Lithuanian Independence Mass and support for Ukraine February 27, 2022

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 27
ANNUNCIATION CHURCH (259 North 5th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11211)

#PrayforUkraine, #StandwithUkraine

9:45 AM: Prayer service for peace in Ukraine. Let us join together in prayer!
10:00 AM: Holy Mass commemorating Lithuanian Independence.
~10:30 AM: Following the conclusion of Mass, procession to the nearby Ukrainian church, “Holy Ghost Ukrainian Church” (160 North 5th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11211).

Ukraine is fighting not only for its own, but also for our freedom! We urge all Lithuanians in the New York area to be united in supporting Ukraine not only with words, but with deeds. Let us show that as we recall Lithuania’s struggles for independence, we are united in supporting Ukraine and we denounce Russia’s aggression. We therefore invite everyone to attend Mass this Sunday, FEBRUARY 27 at 10AM to commemorate Lithuania’s independence. At the conclusion of the Mass, we will have a procession to the nearby Ukrainian church, “Holy Ghost Ukrainian Church” (about a 7 minute walk). We will present a symbolic gift – a Lithuanian pensive Christ figure (“Rūpintojėlis”) to the pastor of the Ukrainian parish.

Our aim is to show the solidarity and support of New York’s Lithuanians to the Ukrainian nation. We invite you to wear the Lithuanian national costume and other Lithuanian national symbols.

Prayer is powerful! Let us pray for the freedom of Lithuania and Ukraine!
